hi
this rubber flange fits around the sail drive leg and onto the bottom of the fibreglass hull. I know there are lots of Sikaflex types but unsure which one would stand up to being underwater. Or should I be using some other type of adhesive. Thanks in advance.

After 14 years and numerous failures, Locktite 480 was the only product that worked for us.
As with any application and particularly for underwater, good prep is paramount.
While you're at it ,shout yourself a new flange.

Still, while you're at it ,check if the main rubber boot that seals the leg to the hull proper has been replaced at some point.
In the case of a Volvo Penta, it's use by, is 10 years.

I have heard that insurance companies will use that for 'ammo' should there become an issue and decline the claim.

Thanks, it does look more suited to the job than Sikaflex after reading the data sheet.
Did you use a Locktite cleanup solvent to prep the surface?

I'm going to do the same with my ns 27. Where did you get the new rubber boot from. I've got a Bukh 10 hp.
Thanks

I bought it from Bukh at Taren Point. At $58 I think I would just cut one out of 4mm rubber next time.

Tried the Locktite 480 but it was too runny and had no tack.

Ended up using Soudal Fix All High Tack. Great stuff. I then just painted the black antifoul straight over the rubber but should have used some type of primer as it just peeled off when it went back in the water.
