any one know what a bukh sail drive would be worth with slipping cones.
The legs in good order
Some one over seas wants to buy it don't want to rip him off, but I could do with some boat dollars just the same
"When my Bukh saildrive corroded, replacement cost was so expensive that in the end I bought a complete new engine."
"I know someone who was selling a 120s saildrive for 1,000 AUS" (post written in 2004)

Many years ago I had a fishing boat with a Volvo stern drive. After having the leg seals replaced the damn thing suffered slipping cones. Specialist pulled the cones and roughed up the surface, worked fine. Did not even slip the boat.
I would suggest pulling this down and checking the actual condition before working out what it's worth.

I'm with you on this one Ramona nothing like disassemble and inspection but I guess that's what the buy want to do as hes in the marine engine business he wont be getting it for nothing that's for sure . Id rather just sit it there and see if I could repair it my self. without pulling it apart to me it sounds much like a set of sycro rings in a old Holden gear box.
I did tell him I needed a PSS seal kit which he sells
Are the cones in the saildrive leg itself or in the gear box at the top.
I have a Bukh DV-10 LSME and the saildrive is making horrible whirring sounds at higher revs. The motor is two years old and fully reconditioned.
The sail drive leg has had new seals and spins freely the cones are in the gear box not the sail drive.
If I bought an item that was worth 50 dollars for 20 dollars I would not necessarily sell on the open market for 20 dollars
I was thinking of putting a couple of these bad boys on it and fitting the DV 24 it to a displacement dingy should keep up to Ramona's dinghy then make a excellent tender
Then we'd see if the sail leg would work or not
If the buyer knows what they're getting - which HG says they do - then there's no rip off whether the price agreed is $1 or $1M. What's so hard to understand?
Unfortunately as Keensailor in another post has just advised bukhed bukh saildrive leg and gearboxes are a dime a dozen. Just costs about $5 to $6k to repair them.
HG02, thoroughly enjoyed the video
, your comments on this forum are always relevant, informative, genuine and interesting. I've learnt a lot about areas of yachts and sailing just by following the threads you have contributed to. You add value to this forum, don't let others take that away. Sectorsteves' (another valued contributor) advice not to bother interacting with the troll on this site was good advice, I have on occasion reported the trolls behavior to Administration, however they seem to have little interest in curtailing his activities on this forum, perhaps they consider it value entertainment? The troll adds nothing of value, the only thing I could learn from him is how to stir the pot and antagonise and apparently you don't even have to be correct in what you say or hold your own genuine opinion to do so. I have learnt nothing worthwhile about yachts or sailing from this person. He clearly enjoys stirring the pot and appears arrogant, purposely antagonising and condescending. Lets all try to not interact with him as it's just fuelling his fire; ride over his comments, don't react, don't respond, by doing so we're just playing into the game he wants to conduct, by ignoring him we take away his power, he is no longer 'puppet master', if he can no longer entertain or amuse himself here hopefully he will wander off. I think I speak for more then myself when I say that I for one am tired of his antics.
I know there's plenty some don't come back here any more Poor guy needs help
he has a definite problem in my world
Just wish hed stay in his thread and not any of mine. Ive never seen him contribute any photos of his fine work other than what appears to be criticism of others .\
I guess he cant cut the mustard
Your quote is spot on a lot don't bother any more that did contribute

Looks like the moderators have been busy cleaning up in this thread over night !
Meg I know your right , but sometimes I can't help jumping in and setting things straight . a "spade sometimes needs to be called a spade " ?
Anyway off to work now , enjoy. The day everyone .
^Sands I understand exactly what you are saying, this guy goes about waving a red rag at people purposely to get a reaction and this is what he thrives on. We've all come across this type of person, he knows exactly what he is doing and hard as it is a times, because he sets out to get under peoples skin, that's the game he likes to play, unfortunately the only way I know to combat this behavior is to ignore, only way to not keep adding fuel to his fire.

hi meg, if perhaps you had read the thread without your obvious preconception then you may have come to a different conclusion.I did make a genuine comment regarding the value of Bukh saildrive legs. Replacemnt parts are not available and they are presently reaching an age where failure is imminent. ie the leg that HGO2 purchased. Keensailors leg, The leg of the guy wanting to purchase and I know of several others that have just had the $5k rebuild.
Please keep an open mind and do not let your prejudices cloud your opinion/\
Cheers
