I called the current Calypso agent in Qld and he couldn't help.
I am helping someone to set up a very old Calypso 16 at Mission Beach and we have no idea how to rig it.

Actually, the hulls are Windrush 16 (ancient) and we are trying to adapt Calypso mast and sails.
Having bits of rigging from various old cats doesn't help as we don't know what/how to use.

Any help appreciated. John

Post some pictures of your hulls. Do you mean Windrush 600?
If so it would need new side stays and probably the sail re cut. Boom would be too low I'd think

Thanks Fly - that would have been my answer too but take a look at the pix! Tried to add several but cannot get it to work. Will try again.
As you can see, he has removed the Calypso mast base to install the Windrush base.

The mast that came with the Windrush/Surfcat is about a meter shorter and the sail (already too short) is in rags. That came with a furling jib and the mast has a chunk missing out of it!

That's a 12ft surf cat. The small mast I'm guessing is the correct 1.
The Calypso mast and sail are too big for it.. It all looks like you'd be better of spending $500 odd buck's and buying a Hobie Cat 14 or 16. Heaps of fun and heaps around cheap. But I'd get one complete and going. You'd spend more money to get that old girl going than it's worth.. Even a 14ft windrush could be found complete ready to sail for a lot less than fixing that 1 up! Good luck

Regarding "a boat ready to sail" - sailing my Hobie 16 up here that's what I tell everyone who says they've found a 'cheap' boat that 'needs a little work' HEARTBREAK and EXPENSE and wasted time!

Anyway, It is NOT a 12ft. Look at the lettering on the hulls again - SURFCAT 16 - same length as my H16 - side by side.

Thanks again, John

Ok, it would be ok in flat but I doubt in surf.. Looks like it would be hard to steer too.

Hi John,

Might be worthwhile talking to Brett at Windrush.

Is there something missing from the base of those masts? It looks like you are missing the mast base. White stuff inside the mast is the glue to seal the mast and make it buoyant? Im not sure that mast step will work either.

Looks similar to the windrush 14 tabernacle on the front beam.

Google calypso 16 images and you will see what I mean.

You may have to buy the calypso mast base and mast step. Replace the windrush tabernacle with the calypso. You may still have problems with the rigging?
