Hi,
I have bought a yacht in Bowen Qld, and will need to antifoul, I was wondering if / where are some careening stands, pads or whagtever they are called,
cheers Emmo
Those things were outlawed and gotten rid of decades ago.
If you want to do that kind of thing, find a nice secluded beach that has a tidal range to suit your draught and lay her over on one side and scrape and paint.
Then on the next tide, lay her over on the other side and scrape and paint.
If during the process you get overflown by a white twin engine aircraft with red stripes, you are BUSTED and your life is over. Boat confiscated and a big fine.
There are no cheap alternative ways of doing things in the yachting world these days.

Hey Gypsy, if you were secluded in Moreton bay I would say go for what Sisco said, but when you,re in the middle of an enviromental nightmare where you can,t even have a fishingrod on deck I,d say cal Edges down at Airlie

No cheap alternative up that way
During the week we had a fairly ferocious storm combined with a heavy swell and a king tide. 12 yachts ended up on the beach at Callala. My mate gave his Northerner 28 a clean up and antifoul as far as he could reach before being craned back in. JB is a national park! All boats were off the beach by Saturday afternoon. I think a trimaran was cut up with a chainsaw and removed, large expensive catamaran had landed on top of it.
You got that right Cisco. Ever since Meridian went under, P.O.A and A P marina are dead. Edges is opposite P.O.A and I think you can only access on high tide from what I could see. Don,t know whats gunna become of the 2 marinas although Fantasea have a sign at P.O.A and looks like there office is under construction now. Shame to see 2 good marinas sitting there and boaties getting ripped off with exorbitant berthing fees. Not as many boats moored out the front now either.
Cheers
Ken
