Thumbs Up

G'day Guys,

Ive been looking at a comfortable cruising yacht, mainly for overnights inside initially, then as the confidence and experience builds, a trip up the coast from Sydney to the Whitsundays.

I was looking at the NorthShore 27 initially for purely inside the harbour, but the market at the moment means something in the low 30 foot size is now in my price range (50k). (Brokers are telling me the market is 20-30% over priced at the moment - sound reasonable ?)

My requirements are:

Can handle one-up

Comfortable for a few nights on-board

Comfortable outisde in good weather

Any thoughts on the above boats ? Any others I should be considering ?

Cheers !

Thumbs Up

I learned to sail at a Sydney sailing school in 2006 and bought my first boat EVER in 2007. Its an Eastcoast 31 and everyone told me theyre great sea boats and theyve been to Lord Howe and done the Sydney-Hobart. She was in Pittwater when we bought her and we learned the basics sailing there. Now she stays in Sydney harbour and we've been back to Pitwater numerous times and twice we've been to Port Stephens and back. We've sailed in winds up to 30 knots and had no trouble. I dont know the other boats you mention but certainly my experience of an EC 31 has been all good. I noticed a lovely EC 31 for sale at Farine Boat sales in Brisbane for $59,000 - looks like one of the better ones Ive seen for sale - and nothing to do with me by the way! - I just keep looking at ones for sale to get ideas about layout etc...
