The Cav's were built long before the introduction of HIN numbers. In NSW you are supposed to get numbers before you sell a boat so the owner should probably have them organised before he advertises the boat.
If it's registered the HIN will be on the rego papers.
There's lot of confusing web info about how to get a HIN, suggesting you need to find a licensed boat seller etc. I bought an imported yacht with no HIN in 2014. Went to Roads & Marine shopfront and filled in the form, got one in the spot, free.

The Add is in Sydney's "North Shore Time" yet again this week (page 109).
The Add Reads:-
"Cavalier 37ft, new furling
headsail + 6 sails, 28hp diesel,
cruise the world, reduced
price $58,000 ph 0416-048-600"
I think the4 add has been there for at least 18 months and original price closer to $70k

Thx for the details. I have spoken to this guy before. The boat name is Musketeer. The reason it has been there for a while because it got washed on the beach in storm. Came off its mooring. It has no mast and some hull damage. Have been waiting for him to send me some new photos . Is advertising the boat under different phone numbers. Not sure aboutethics one. Will keep looking I think.

Made an offer and the guy told me he could sell his sails for 20k and his boom for 10k....... I gave up dealing with him at that point lol. Funny thing is he probably got decent offers when the market was good but was to stubborn to accept 5k off his asking price. It has been for sale since 2014 maybe longer.
