It appears that circa 1979 Cavalier Yachts in Brookvale built a Marauder 27 (design by Kevin Shepherd.) Most Marauder 27s were apparently built by Adventure yachts in Brisbane.
Looks like there was a story there. Maybe the mould was moved to Brisbane? Anybody know the history?
Its funny that they would be in Blacktown. I found it strange that Bias Boating would have a shop in North Parramatta. Then it closed!

Blacktown would have been cheap rent in those days.
Bias must have been there for the boaters on Lake Parramatta! 
Bias was also in Liverpool they mainly catered for trailer boats. Lots of boaters live in locations other than beach side suburbs .
Yep 2dogs, not everyone lives next to the coast and the western suburbs are between Nepean R, Wiseman's, Pittwater, Botany, not to mention the Dams over the GDR and L Mac and Myall and St Georges and..... lol Sydney is actually not such a bad location hey!
But as others said the land was cheap and big bonus it was closer to the staff. Win win.
Cavalier started at Parramatta Rd, five dock then moved to Blacktown and lastly Pendle Hill.
The Marauder moulds were definitely owned by a 2nd party (possibly qld based but most likely eventually qld) and Cavalier was paid for each yacht. From memory the deck, hulls joining and bulkheads were definitely Cavalier but internals may or may not have been. Construction was most likely solid poly but no guarantees... It was a long time ago, not sure if it's sad or fantastic but ou old plastic fantastic boats may just outlive us.

It's possible they were paid a bucket load of money to move there by the NSW Dept. of Decentralisation and Development as so many businesses back then were. Mores the pity that we don't have more decentralisation now.
My Cavalier 975 (32) was built in 1981 and the brass plaque inside is marked Cavalier Yachts Pendle Hill NSW.
LooseChange has a great point though. I have often thought that Australia could really benefit from a little desentralisation. It's crazy that we have such a large country and most of the population lives in 7 Capital cities. Unlivable arid areas excepted.
my cav 37 has no plaque or anything to tell me about her age or where she was built anyone know any history of the cav 37
Kay Cottee ordered a 37 from Cavalier in the mid 80's and fitted it out herself then sailed it around the world in 88 or thereabouts.
