Hi All,
Chartering a 2016 Dufour 350 for 7 weeks in Croatia/ Italy in July. Couple of questions from people that have chartered before:
- Charter Contract recommends Skippers Liability Insurance. Any recommendations on providers? Is it even worth it?
- Any special terms in charter contracts I should be watching out for, or ensuring I include? I have read through it and seems straight forward enough but I am not a contract law expert, especially not a Croatian Contract Law expert, do you think Croatian Maritime Lawyer would be worth the cost to review the contact?
- I have done some sailing courses here in Aus and have my own lil yacht I sail around, although need to get either the RYA certification or ICC before they will hand the yacht over, I am going to do the course in Greece as an opportunity to see the Greek Islands, any training schools people recommend in Greece? Currently have a quote from Sunsail for $1200 which I think is reasonable.
Cheers!
I know nothing about your questions. But Croatia is fantastic and you should enjoy Dubrovnik, Korcula, Hvar and other wonderful places and people.
You will need to do the ICC.... If you do the higher qual of say the RYA Day Skipper, that won't be accepted, although if you do the Day Skipper you can automatically apply for the ICC.. Clear as mud!!
Cheers, I am doing the RYA and then applying for the ICC certificate but the charter companies I have talked to have all agreed the RYA will be fine, also have to do a VHF course.
Commonsense has finally prevailed then.. It was talked about changing a few years back.. The ICC is really nothing other then the old Competent Crew.
Couldn't resist
Didn't everyone see his pirate flag? His plan from the start was to wreak havoc. I have learnt a great lesson from this video and purchased the same flag, I'll see if I can hit 7 boats in 40mins, stay tuned.
