Well.. It's happened.
After 25 years I have been made redundant.
How dare they push me out like that !

The bright side is...
I can go cruising :-)
WooHoo !

Ideas, comments, suggestions appreciated.

Changes are good, not always at first, but when made to make changes then things happen, make to most of it.
Good luck

Next chapter in your life. I was retrenched 2 years ago after 23 years.
Changes are good, you widen your horizont.
Look forward much more relaxing days,
The day under your control, not your boss.

Yes I did a bit of cruising but, still 3 years to retirement.
That makes a bit different planning. After 12monts found very good job,
that change was very good change for me.

Just on this subject
Hi all Seabreezers in Brizi and surrounding area... HELLO ...
after retrenchment seachange from Mel. to Yeppoon, 12 month later find a job in Mel.
Meet "HG" a few times and seen his lovelly boat.
a 2 weeks ago I was transfer permanently to electronic lab. Richland in Brizi.
occasionally doing calibration from Maryborough to G.Coast.
any electrical misbehaving, lets solve it.

Lucky Bugger Chookfoot!
That's exactly what I am waiting for.
I hope to rent the castle out soon then buy a yacht and combine a bit of 4wding and yachting on the East coast.

I can understand the feeling of a forced change like that.
The company I am doing consulting work for is likely to be taken over shortly, and I'm likely to be out of work. I haven't yet decided whether I'm looking forward to this happening, or dreading it. I'm leaning towards the former.

Yeah.. Just another chapter.
Hi supersonic, I would love to tow to Tasmania but my trailer is not very good.
I would sail south but coastal bars scare the proverbial out of me. I need more experience.
Going north, the predominant wind direction may not be in my favour but I have plenty of time.
Figure if I keep my eye on the weather, I should be able to avoid most of the bad stuff.
It will be an adventure never the less.
Cheers all!

You have a yacht. You have been made to retire. You live in Queensland.

How much better do you want it??

Sponsorship would be nice free moorings some one to come to the boat and top up the food supply and dinks and also the fuel plus a stand by sail maker
Oh yes also some one to do his anti foul on a regular basis

Hey Charriott
Welcome to QLD
I have a real strange problem:
I have an older (but never used until recently) Raymarine tiller pilot "ST 4000" and I recently got all new Raymarine instruments including a E7D MFD
All the new instruments use STNG network and the ST4000 is on the old seatalk system.
So the ST 4000 is connected to the network via a seatalk to STNG converter.
Initially the network would randomly fail to recognise the depth display and one of the wind instruments.
Through a process of elimination I found if the ST 4000 was not connected to the network on boot up it would find all the instruments and the ST to STNG converter.
Afer the system boots I can plug the ST 40000 and everything works perfectly.
Ive tried this about 100 times now and its the only way to make everything work.
Raymarine have been helpful but they have run out of ideas and are now saying the tiller pilot must be faulty, but they cant test it and it works perfectly.

Its not such a huge problem but its one of those things that is just annoying, has anyone heard of similar problems with Sea talk to STNG conversions?

sorry wouldn't be much help in annoying software problem ,
I am hardware orientate, my suggestion would by, bring it
to the latest software level / flash upgrade / .
A few years ago when I bought a Garmin plotter, software was
many levels behind, and after flash upgraded, was and still is
very good.
