The Navy used to sail them as their training boats before going to Tasers. I bet there are heaps in WA in some defence storage shed

Cheers carpediem+ Jethrow, i have tried searching a few WA based clubs but haven't had any luck as yet, my father in law raced them as a young lad at Mackay, he tells me they were quite popular in their day, and still are, however im also told that they were never as popular in WA for some reason? Cheers!

hi There is a gentelman called Ashely Chapman (97+yrs) at budgewoi sailing club still sailing them every Sunday. We should all be so lucky. It is worth a call just to talk to him. He is a real old man of the sea. there is nothing about Corsair he doesn't know. The just had their nationals a Airley beach.

All the services did and they were used for interservice sailing for a number of years till the service version of the Taser was bought.

The trouble with the corsair is its such a good boat. The association was very active a few years ago with people buying up and restoring them and the market dried up a bit. Occasionally see one on eBay.

Ashley Chapman (02)43909295, will be able to put you in touch with current Corsair asscn members in the west, also try the Naval Cadets in WA, I am fairly sure they are still using Corsairs for sail training. Good hunting. Darcy.
