I was asked by HG02 about Cruz Pro in another thread so I thought I better post a new thread on my experience.
I was sailing around the North Island NZ 8 years ago and visited the Auckland Boat Show and discovered a small stand of marine instruments called Cruz Pro.
I remembered the brand name as when I worked for Whitworths we used to sell only their gas detectors. In my opinion Whitworths is a bit like Woolworths in that they only sell the products if their is something in it for them.

Anyway, since they seem to be sold only by word of mouth I thought I would pass my experience on.
I have no connection other than becoming a customer.

That's a interesting wind speed and direction mast unit Ambler

I agree, the sender or transponder thingy up the mast is the same sort as some of the new style weather stations. One wonders if they perform when heeled over? I like the logging functions on the instrument though.
I was thinking of getting one until I pulled the Navman head unit apart and replaced the ribbon cable joining the board and display. Now as good as new again.

I have a speed SLT110 head unit that I bought online when the Navman failed. It is connected to my Navman through hull sender unit, even the temperature part worked.
I also have a VAH35 & PY30. So I can vouch for the quality of the product.

It's the second time I have cruised NZ and the number of times I have been called Cuz and Bro would have given me grave doubts about my parents heritage except for the units calling me that looked absolutely nothing like my family.
The other day I saw this guy trying to catch a sheep on a vacant block of land just down the road so I hopped the fence and we were able to catch it. He said thanks for your help bro. I asked if he was going the shear it and he said 'no way cuz, its just taken me bloody 20 minutes to catch this ewe, so I'm not sharing it with anybody!
