I have made a firm decision today to depart from posting on the seabreeze forum from now on. I will still come for a browse to read some members posts and updates but I will not comment anymore.

Unfortunately I don't believe this site is moderated enough. Life removal of perpetrators should exist.

Tight lines!

That's a shame southace. I believe in inclusion not exclusion but if you want to set up an exclusive group then good luck.
This mob accepted me as an old inexperienced bozo and included me into their group.......they'll do me.
All the best.

sorry to see you go SA.............. i have so far managed to not get involved in FACEPLANT . so i wont be trying that out,

this venture into sea-breeze was a big enough leap into social media for me ......

but i think i understand why you have chosen this path .... i may not last long myself the way things are shaping up !!

was it something i said ?

fair winds to ya , may catch you on the water , if i buy a faster boat !!

+1^ I was away from Seabreeze for awhile only to come back and find it a very changed place now that it has it's own resident troll. It used to be informative, personal and fun, now it seems that one person delivering scathing, condescending, arrogant, antagonising, condoning, pompous, provoking comments and providing predominantly Googled opinions and information is perfectly acceptable here. Like Southace I will still browse and read and would not be at all surprised if there continues to be an exodus from this site....it only takes one apple.

SA and Meg I'm pretty sure we all get annoyed by the resident troll/not so nice person, but from where I stand there is only one on here, everybody else is great company. Eventually he will either: get that its not cool to put people down; or he will go away because no one wants to be the guy that no one likes.
So hang around

Leaving because of one bad apple only empowers that person.
Replying to taunts only gives them oxygen, just ignore and more on.

All bad apples eventually fall from the tree.

I will proceed to set up a Aussie Sailing Facebook group over the next few weeks which I will moderate it.

This will be very similar to the Sea breeze forum where you can post pics and vids and chat with others about boating.

If you would like to enter this group please private message me with your email addy and I will then add you once accepted .

Tight lines!

Southace

Sadly a departure equals troll win, wheras ignoring said troll deprives it of oxygen and eventually it will move on.
To those contemplating a move, please reconsider, your input is actually valued, unlike the resident troll.!!

We do our best to manage the 39 forums on here. There's a lot to read, and often we rely on members alerting us by reporting inapropriate posts.

Please do help us help you - we want to host a friendly, helpful community.

If, using friendly language, you can't motivate others to blend in, then please do let the admins know of troublemakers by reporting them.

If you (or anybody else) want to be a forum moderator, you can begin by letting us know of any NEW posts that you believe don't fit the forum guidelines. (Please don't go an emotionally charge rampage and report every post people you disagree with).

Heck - if you want to be a moderator, why not put your hand up to help here? Anybody else want to help? Anybody support southace's nomination (if he does nominate)?

Thanks.

You're right, you're right, silly of me to let one troll get under my skin, it's just he is such an uneccessarily unpleasant person, who just seems to enjoy unnecessarily cutting others down. I need to develop a thicker skin but yes best ignored and focus on the good people on here.

No moderators in the Sailing Forum please.

If everybody just sits down, shuts up, faces the front and gets a haircut, we will be fine.

12 years consistent sailing, 8 of those living aboard, 4 of those full time cruising Oz and SE Asia.
Predominently cruising , not much racing (too lazy ).
When my marriage ended I came ashore. Currently land locked and undergoing a change in career direction.
Moving to the coast next year where the intention will be to get back into sailing, I'd like to give dinghy sailing a go (maybe Lasers) and do some crewing and eventually buy a pocket cruiser that will not cause too much tears if/when I bump it into something/scrape its bum .

I agree we are adults we shouldn't need someone to tell us how to behaviour.
Providing power to one or two people may make more problems.

We all need to respect the opinions of others and express opinions without making offensive personal remarks.
