Hi all
We are currently anchored in Mooloolabah waiting for a good day to sail up to Double Island point.
Thursday is looking quiet good but there's a small easterly swell. My question, is that a nono if we wanted to anchor at Double Island that night? I understand it will be rolly but if the holding is good I'm ok with that. Anyone have experience with Double Island?

Hi Dexport.
If you read the thread that Crusoe listed it mentions that the Wide Bay VMR will text you the "three" waypoints.
I came over the bar recently and there are now only two waypoints as compared to three waypoints late last year.
If you ring them they will give you the details.
Cheers.
spent the night at Double Island several times tuck in tight and its a fine anchorage wish I was there now not at work
An update on this.
My question in this thread was asking about anchoring at Double Island in an easterly. Most of the answers were concerning the Wide Bay bar.
Double Island is not a nice place to anchor in and Easterly! Secure yes but very rolly. Any southerly swell its maybe much better.
We put out a stern anchor as well to hold the bow into the swell but it was a pretty uncomfortable night.

Yeah , you have to get right in close to where the road over to the main beach is.
and then your draught would be an issue.
