My engine is getting rusty, especially around the mounts. I blast it with penetrol whenever I've got my head in the engine box, but it has no lasting effect.

Anyone got any cleaning, prepping and painting advice ?(and product sources)

I've got a Nanni, so I'd like to keep her metallic blue. But I haven't been able to find an Australian source for the paint.

Thanks

I used the Kill Rust system with a hammer tone enamel over the top. Any paint shop can tint the Nanni Blue or close to it for you.

More than 20 pages ago I posted a thread on it. Have a dig around.

Thanks. I checked it out. Did you guys use heat resistant topcoats?

No. They don't really get that hot.

You have to scrub the loose rust of as best you can with wire brush etc then wash it down with degreaser and rinse with fresh water.

Kill Rust "Rust Eeter and Heavy Duty Primer". Just read and follow the instructions on the can.

I did mine a year ago and no problems.

I used kill rust topcoat on my block, my head was reconditioned and painted black so I left it black and I used a brake calliper paint for the exhaust manifold because it was a good colour match and I thought that the exhaust gets a bit hotter. Probably not necessary though
