Wife and I are planning on flying to Sydney to watch the extreme sailing series in December. For one of the days we were thinking of hiring a boat and watching from the water.

I have looked at Oz Boat Hire who have a 6 meter boat which they will drop off and pickup from a ramp you specify in Sydney. Was wondering if anyone has any hints, tips or suggestions for a day out on the Harbour?

I have my skippers ticket (from WA) but have not done a lot of power boating, mostly just sailing.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a Tripple S deal to me:-

Six metre Zodiac
Sixty horses on the back
Sydney Harbour

Oh yes. Make that a Sixty litre Ssssky with Several Sorts fo Six packs, Sausages, Salad, Sauce, Scottish Baps and the Sizzler Stove if you please.

What a blast!!

Have a great day on Sydney Harbour.

When in Dec? Is a NS 38 big enough?

Its from the 11th to 14th. Wife still has no leave approved so still not sure if we will be going.

Assuming the 38 in NS38 is its length it would be a good size boat to watch from. The only thing I have not found out is how big the exclusion zone is, it might end up being better to watch from the shoreline.

For a cool $1000 you can actually be on one of the Cats during a race....

We can go out quite relaxed on my bluebird 22. I'm out pretty much daily. I'd say you could also come out racing on a sweet 32 footer as the skipper often needs extra hands and he is real relaxed also.

Thanks for all the various offers. Unfortunately my wife did not get leave approved so we won't be coming. Maybe next time....

And the next thing you know is that she will have so much leave accrued that they will force her to take at a time when it doesn't her .... or you.

Something else others might want to take onboard.
