Easy way to get rid of a crew :P
Lesson Learnt, always check your toe straps before going out as it will loose you places in a race!

Filmed on the Gopro

Had the same thing happen years ago sailing a Flying 15 on Port Hacking.

I was helming and my mate was hiking when the strap let go. I am looking over my shoulder to see where he went and he is climbing back over the transom.

He had a spray jacket on and was that quick getting back on his shirt didn't even get wet.

It is really funny when that happens. One second the fwd hand is there, and the next second he is not. Classic

Remember - A boat is only as good as the laughter that comes out of it.

Cisco, your are 60% right Laughter you must have but to me the other40% must be boat speed,( hey i am an ex racer, cut me some slack) boat speed and laughter the ultimate combination.

Always cracks me up when someone inadvertantly bails. Done it myself once or twice.
Helmed 125s when I was in highschool. Once following my mate down the start line, just a second before the hooter, everyone is powering on and his crew (another good mate) flings himself out on the trap. Cept he wasn't hooked in. Just kept going. Twisted like a cat in midair and turned it in to a clean swan dive. I'd have given him an 8 outta 10.
One of the funniest things i've ever seen. Completely broke our concentration and ended up nearly capsizing we were laughing that hard. Made him the butt of jokes for long time

Funniest moment I remember was sailing a 470. We had 25 kts of wind and about 30-50cm chop on the lake. Main, Jib and kite all up. A mate of mine was up on a trapeze wire, when we hit a chop around 70cm. We were planing about 12 kts when the boat almost came to a dead stop for a split second, long enough to fling my still attached mate well forward of the forestay and back around the leeside...

Happened to me once, maricat webbing tore, i was solo on swan lake NSW

The cat was well balanced and so i watched it sail on it's merry way toward the reeds on the far side, no biggy, nice day for a swim...

Ten or so mins later i look up to see it sailing back toward me...exactly toward me??

So i stop and wait... grab hold of the dolphin striker and get back on

Aint boats funny things ?
