Have you got/read any books by Rob Mundle? He is the author of 'Fatal Storm' which is a great book about the tragic 1998 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

Fatal Storm: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9781408107003/Fatal-Storm

There is another book called Left for Dead about the tragic 1979 Fastnet Race.

Which can be found here: www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780713689365/Left-for-Dead

I would agree with "Left for Dead". The owners son has come out now in the last few months to tell his side of the story in The August 2009 edition of "Yachting World". Matthew Sheahan is a regular contributor.

Not so keen on Rob Mundle's version of events in "Fatal Storm". I would recommend An Extreme Event" by Debbie Whitmont. She is a journalist and the book comes from the ABC 4 corners programme. She is not a sailor but its obvious she knows more than Rob Mundle who tends to gloss over a bit to protect the club and his mates.

An excellent book is John Vigors "The seaworthy offshore sailing boat" If you are looking at doing some serious sailing/cruising then you should read this. Its excellent for prepairing your boat, as no boat is perfect this book is full of things that can prove fatal if looked over.
