I know nothing about this one. Try searching the other well known boom brakes and checking youtube videos for similar.
I was given a walder boom brake to try out, and it's been alright, despite my initial misgivings about it.
I have used a wichard boom brake as well as the walder.
I think I had better response from the wichard but that was on someone elses boat. The set up on mine for the walder is really simple and the brake can be set from the helm which is handy. I made my own "handy billy" with a pair of double blocks working together as a reduction on the lie to give good purchase and a cam cleat works perfectly for the job.
I machined up a copy of a Walder. Worked OK a few times but then I managed an overriding turn on one occasion which added greatly to the excitement factor. Obviously my fault and probably due to not keeping some tension on it at all times. Now I'm using a climbers figure 8. Still not all that successful and I'm experimenting with different positions on the boom and moving the turning blocks along the toe rail. The figure 8 is currently just aft of the boom vang and the turning blocks inline with it. Next is to pass the line through a couple more times as the friction is not enough at the moment to slow the boom to a safe limit in fresh conditions. The rope is double braid 10mm back to the genoa winch cleats and I tension both sides before the gybe.
