60 minutes on Sunday had a piece about the yacht "4 Winds" and her missing skipper, Bob Chappell.
Now I don't watch 60 minutes normally but my wife let me because there was a boat in the story. I expected the forum on Monday would have plenty to say on the subject but there was nothing! Here is the old story

I'll start.
I reckon he paid too much for a 16m boat and the maintenance would be a nightmare.
Depends on when he bought the yacht. Prior to 2008 it might have been worth $200000. Some one might pick up a bargain if Four Winds is eventually sold though I suspect having sat idle for over four years with little maintenance after having been partially flooded the boat would cost a lot to recommission.
I think that this is yet another miscarriage of justice. I have taken some interest in this case over the last couple of years and honestly believe that his wife is innocent and the Tasmanian Police bungled up the investigation. I hope her conviction so quashed soon and the real criminals tracked down and imprisoned.
First I've heard of this case. I just read a couple of articles and I have no idea what to believe.
I found a website created by friends and family of Susan who are petitioning a case of wrongful conviction.

To go out on another limb, I hope it's not another one of those boat pseudocides.

Boats that size owned by blokes that old often don't leave their moorings in 4 years! I looked at the boat on TV and was impressed, it's certainly a nice boat but I have no idea how Bob and his missus could have handled any of the gear. Bit of water in the boat is a problem if it gets into the engine but my mate had the water well over the dipstick in his boat recently but none entered the engine. It did contaminate the fuel tank though!
As to whether the guilty person is in gaol or not depends on what source is used for info. If the homeless person who lived on a yacht!!!!!!!!!!!!!! was responsible as 60 minutes implied, then he did a poor job on scuttling the vessel. I would tend to lean towards the coroner and the courts decision.
Most boat people could arrange a sinking fairly easy.
As soon as a suspect starts lying they are in trouble. If, a big if, the article is correct on her lying and without any other knowledge of evidence the jury had, I would go with the jury.
Not sure I would want the boat. A bit of a weird feeling being on such a boat. A bit like the deserted S&S34 found in Bass Strait after the solo sailor owner had disappeared.
