I'd hate to be trying to bring it into Australia, it's hard enough for cats and dogs to get entry. although race horses don't seem to have that much trouble getting in.
I can see that being a major inconvenience.
Still, I guess if he arrived somewhere where he really needed to clear customs and knew they wouldn't allow the bird he could always eat it!
maybe as long as it stays onboard its ok?
Not many places have as many rules as us.
Australia. Loves , RULES.
Think its a brilliant idea. Chickens are awesome. ive got 3. low maintenance and pretty friendly things once they know you. Robust as as well. theyll handle some storms no worries
Oh they sure do love rules. My daughter was telling me when I was back at xmas time that NSW now have it codified that if you use your car horn to hoot goodbye there is a fine, cannot remember how much, and if you hoot and wave then you can also be fined for having your arm out of the window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like chickens, i think people under estimate their ability to be great companion animals. I used to have three and found it really relaxing to come home from work, pour a scotch and sit out at the chook house watching them scratch in the dirt and listening to those soothing little sounds they make :).

I have to correct the people who have been saying Australians love rules, it is not Australians who love rules at all, it is the stinking politicians and their Bureaucrat masters who love rules, which is one reason that Australians hate politicians and their Bureaucrat masters, and as we all know Australian politicians and Bureaucrats are not Australians at all, they all pledge their allegiance to the United States of America and through them to the United Nations.

Haha.... awesome!! Funnily, but I've been thinking about taking my 2 chooks on board. But imagine them having nowhere to scratch and have a dust bath.

I have got to say that this thread is the forum at its best.
I had never noticed the clear link between illegal chicken importation, locking cars in Byron Bay, the role of the United Nations in Australian politics and the need for more anarchy.
Now that I have noticed I an angry, Australia has been ruined as a place to live!
The wife and I are going to sell up and move to somewhere where a anarchist has a chance of a decent life, undisturbed by over regulation. I have done some initial research and the best choices are The Sudan, Syria or Afganastan. It is going to be a tough decision!
LMY Don't forget that other great place for anarchists…Somalia. They also have a great maritime traditions.

Fiji has copied all the Australian laws but they do not have any of the processes to see it through so it is just one glorious cock up. I brought a small portable fridge into the country the other day. Usually this is a major hassle as they will confiscate it if you don't have the environmental paperwork. Then they nail you big time for duty.
I hired a consultant and on the first two days there was a huge amount of information toing and froing but I made it really clear that I was in absolutely no hurry and even delayed returning calls by a couple of days.
Sailed through like a breeze. They even delivered the it. Customs were going to come and look at the installation but that was Monday.
Fiji time!

Hens that is.
Roosters are another story altogether, almost like a different species!
Garbo drives down the street doing the collection. There's a bloke outside his house, but no bin.
Garbo says 'Where's ya bin?'
Bloke says 'I bin visiting m' cousins'
Garbo says 'No, where's ya wheely bin?'
Bloke says 'Well, I wheely bin in jail, but I'm tellin everyone I bin visiting m' cousins!'
They are.

You're not wrong Japie, I really liked my hens but needed a length of poly pipe to go into the yard with the rooster, not to mention he was forever scuffing the girls in the dirt and having his way with them!! Ha!

After 10 years living in Europe i longed for home-. Just couldn't do it anymore. Things we take for granted. Fairly clean oceans . Even in the harbour they constantly clean up. Clean beaches. Rubbish bins at beaches. Youre not sitting on sand feeling ciggy buts between your toes. Showers and amnentiyies at beaches.
The stuff that ****s is is hard to ignore though . I can be fined for a number of things but the latest annoying one for me is the 300 buck no helmet fine. I live in a small town. Im not wearing a helmet. The gov also wants to register people who buy those clarks rubber pools to ensure they fence them.it goes on. Clean place that's fsirly organised too many rules.
