We have to replace compressor and plate in our ketch our built in box is 200ltrs, it had a Waeco compressor with an L shaped plate.Ii plan to partition 1/3 of box on plate side of box off as a freezer. Any advice on what sort to buy I know nothing about them!!

I installed a Ozfridge unit around 4 years ago. The Ozfridge units use a eutetic storage tank, rather than a conventional plate. The tank is filled with coolant which is frozen and provides a store of cold material in the fridge. In theory this reduces power consumption, but there was a recent thread where my power draw did not seem lower than others. It Is hard to compare though, as the power draw is affected by ambient temp, how full is the fridge, how good is the insulation etc. My measurements were hot summer, fridge part full opened often, so a worst case condition.
Installation was not difficult, the compressor and plate are pre-filled with refrigerant gas. You install the compressor and plate, connect the pipes and connect power. There was no need for specialist refrigeration skills. I think that there are legislative requirements for the handling refrigerant gas in some states, you might want to check.
I located the compressor in a fairly large locker, but had problems with heat build up when the compressor is running. Ozefridge have a water cooled option, which I added and cooling is now fine.
