Another question for the brains trust: on the Moeller fuel tank installation instructions for the sender unit (www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=1105) it states "Secure sending unit to tank, tightening mounting screws into place just until white sealant shows beneath the screw head."

However, it doesn't specify what this mysterious "white sealant" is, nor can I find any info on fuel-safe sealant for applying between a nylon tank and a nylon/rubber(???) gasket. I installed this tank a while ago without sealant but found some leaking at the gasket when the tank is full, so I've just kept it below about 80% but would rather have this sealed, obviously.

Any ideas?

I have had "stag " jointing paste recommended to me by mechanics over the years and only recently got around to trying it
1. long range omc fuel tank sender / outlet joint
2. honda generator fuel tank rejuvenation .....water caused pitting and rusting through bottom of tank
both seemed to work quite well...no complaints will use it again
what that has to do with romance who knows

Some compounds don't work well with petrol while others don't work with diesel, you really need to get the one that suits your fuel.

What does it have to do with romance you ask? ........ knowing that that the one you love no longer leaks fuel, isn't love grand.

Thanks guys,

Just got a reply back from Moeller who state, "The "white sealant" is referring to a white gasket, we have now corrected this on our instructions as we have changed over to a black gasket. No sealant is necessary. Since we don't recommend use of sealant, we do not have a particular recommendation."

So it's quite possible I haven't tightened the screws enough for the gasket to work properly. Will go back and see if I can tighten the screws "until white sealant black gasket shows beneath the screw head".

Thanks again guys.
