I'm looking at installing a furler on my 33 footer with 8mm 11.5m forestay. Should I go cheap and integral or spend far more?
Alado Furlers are a seemingly well respected Brazialian option in this market, although they cost a bit more than your GumTree find:

My personal preferences (and so need to be taken with a grain of salt) are Furlex, then Profurl and North. I had a integral halyard furler and it was OK, but the halyard puts compression loading on the foil and so the foil is quite large in section and does interfere with the flow around the sail. Problems with riding turns on the drum rarely happen and never happened at all on the Furlex.
