Is it compulsory for the seller to provide a 'Gas Compliance Certificate' to the purchaser of a sailing vessel in NSW? I have bought a vessel but I was not supplied with a Certficate. Is this illegal? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure about NSW but in sunny Qld you need a gas certificate. Did you buy it through a broker? From memory, it's mentioned on the (Qld) rego transfer papers

Mine has a plate near the stove. That's probably all that's required.

Mine has a plate near the stove with a date around 1985. Surveyor saw it and said, "Good". Not sure how much he can be trusted though. 30 year old certification is pretty worthless imho.

By the way, if I replace / modify the gas line I assume I need a gas guy to re-certify it for insurance / safety purposes?
