Naah mate unfortunatly we couldnt get crew. Apparently Hi Flier is having a hard time too.
Whats this I hear your ride has been sold and is heading to mandurah?
We can also expect a 50 foot canting keel'er before feb. That should kick everyones arse.
are you referring to wild one?
it's not even for sale to my knowledge....
but tony is looking at a few farr 53's, he went to see one called georgia which is over in auckland.
thats as far as it's progressed.
I hear Wild one is heading down to Mandurah shortly and Georga is heading over here. That is only rumours tho so it is probly bull ****.
Are u going to the briefing on thurs night?
hmmmm well he has definitely been to see georgia but he thinks they're asking too much for it ($750k US) so he's just holding out til early next year.
what do you sail again?
not going to the briefing because i'm not actually racing... have been unwell for a couple of months and don't want to be stuck on a boat for a couple of days just yet (they are sailing straight home on sunday morning, so solid few days on the boat)
the race TO geraldton the lead boats would expect to take around 20 hours or so.
the race back to perth would take much longer though due to the predominantly southerly winds at this time of year.
I sail on Syrenka.
The race record is around 17 and a bit hours but that was by a Volvo 60. Normally less than 30 hours but with light winds this time I cant see the boats finishing before Saturday Lunchtime. I think the race starts Friday Afternoon
when did a volvo 60 race it???
yeah the forecast doesn't look good at the moment. i think it may start around lunchtime on friday??
Elle Racing. A bunch of sheelas in about 1996 I think.
Boat was sponsored by Elle but they ran out of money.
are you sure that was a volvo 60?
i thought the first volvo 60's were the ones that competed in the first volvo round the world. the race that included ef language, swedish match, merit cup, innovation kvaerner etc. i thought that was around 1998?
YAH and IRC on handicap.....hmm. I am glad its friday afternoon. That said the same thing twice.....
maybe taking a metre off the mast/mainsail was a good idea afterall even though it does look a little strange now.
