Hi everybody. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with their cmap card (gme g142c) a brief history, two years ago I replaced the card with a new one thinking I had fixed the problem, two years on I have the same problem. (Plotter freezes up and only works on a basic setting without the card) Do I replace the card or look at a new chartplotter/ system?
Thanks in advance for any feedback
For 4 years I had the same 142c plotter with Cmap. Occasionally mine did similar to yours. I ramg GME who are particularly helpful, always.
But it meant returning the thing to them for maybe a forthight leaving a hole in the bulkhead and no plotter.
But Whitworths had a 7" Simrad with a simple Navionics card for $1100 so I dumped the gme.
If you can be without the plotter just send it to GME because there's nothing their techs can't fix. They're in the Baulkham Hills (nsw) neck of the woods.
GME have been around, same staff for ....?? 40 years. If you like the machine, and why not, then get it repaired by the people here who made it, in OZ!

Sounds like the plotter is having trouble reading the card....maybe because of its characteristics (eg speed, access time, different format, etc).
Often this sort of problem is a software bug which is readily fixed with a software upgrade.
I've no doubt GME are familiar with this problem and can readily fix it for you - so I'd get onto them.
