Hi there, guys im new to boating and fishing in gerneral all though used to love land based fishing when I was a kid. Im going on a friends boat who is an experienced skipper out to west end off Rottnest tomorrow and have read the weather forecast on here the best I could. Are waves on 1.7m and winds of 5 knots a good day to boat out at rottnest, just a lil worried and anxious to be honest (I know that sounds silly) and dont know how to read the weather properly on here, sorry if this sounds stupid.

They will be light winds. Check what the weather is doing the day before and after your planned trip. Sometime fronts come earlier and somestimes you boats play up and you could get stuck out there. I don't know the area. How big is the boat?

Thanks for ur reply SirJman

Im actually not sure the exact size of the boat however it comfortably fits 4 x people on it, its quite a big boat anyways and the skipper tomorrow has been out a few times, just myself trying to learn how to read the weather, swells and wave height ect...

Well if the skipper is experienced then he shouldn?t lead you astray. I find the swell readings on the site a bit hit and miss. I normally judge the conditions from predicted/actual wind conditions and a visual look from land. Keeping in mind that a breeze coming from the shore can make the conditions look more favourable, which isn?t always the case when the wind shifts.

This is a sailing forum btw.
