I need to hire an experienced yachtsman to help me sail my yacht from South Australia to Batemans Bay in NSW next February.
I'm not sure of the right way to go about finding the right person, or the costs involved.

What should my expectations be for this process and what is the right protocol to follow?

My suggestion, go to afloat.com.au and look in the classifieds section.

Theres a few sailors around who will move your boat from place to place, and you are the crew. Typical price $250 per day.

But watch out theres a sharks amongst them. I needed to sue one once but he had no money which would have made it no use!!

You might want to read the forum further down the page "yacht delivery costs"

You could ask at your local marina office , they might know a local skipper who does it on the side . it probably needs to be a "live aboard " type marina where most of us know each other . There is nothing like word of mouth .

Hi
I may be able to help you out.
I am not a delivery skipper can't be bothered with the hassle ,just enjoy yachting in my time off from work.
Hold a yachtmaster also commercial marine tickets.
will be available mid February not to sure on date .
my day job is working on offshore vessels in bass strait ,this gives me enough time of to go yachting a sort off relief valve .
I am happy to help out as a competent crew also help an owner brush up on the skills.

any way contact me if need more info

Can't help with the delivery, but if you need some contacts around BB drop me a line. It's not a perfect sailing area, but it's a fantastic one IMHO. Desert islands you can anchor off and snorkel around, private bays you share only with dolphins and roos, nice day-sailing destinations and a river to go up if you get a big southerly.
