There was some talk in here a couple of weeks ago ,maybe three pages back ,have a look
RACV . APIA does third party . Club Marine . Nautilus marine insurance. Trident Marine Insurance
Most if you want full cover . Most want a survey certificate and also Rigging needs to be reasonably new with receipts or Hull only no rigging if the boat a bit old they still want a survey .
Was going to get my hull surveyed while it was out for a few days but the survey did not show ,wanted his easter Id say. Ill just get some APIA third party for now

I used anchorage marine. I found them rally easy to deal with and cost effective. My boat was built in 1978. They insisted on new standing rigging because of the age of the existing standing rigging. They accepted the receipts for the work done on the hull in 2009 and did not insist on an out of water survey.

try NRMA, need survey, but once your insured you never have to get one again, and apparently they pay out for the little guys

Will have to check but I think NRMA don't insure boats on swing moorings in some places. Some companies just wont handle some areas anymore.

Anchorage Marine. I can't recommend them highly enough. I don't remember my insurance going up once in 4 years and I have a '81 clansman, and Im on a swing mooring covered for all NSW waters. A bit extra if I choose to race. Goodluck

Thank you , Guys , for the leads on Insurance.

I was miffed by my regular insurer upping my premium by approx. 10% each year. At the same time I am restricted to below 26deg S, in cyclone season and my no claims is 100% !

Did you ever notice that your policy cost is hit with 20% government charges ? If it wasn't for the " ball and chain " insisting , I'd give it away !

Anchorage Marine ! I have had 3 yachts over 17 years insured with them and you couldn't do better. Personal and freindly service and expert advice and they're boat owners as well. The really great thing is that you can ring and discuss your situation with them person to person as opposed to an employee in a large company. Companys across the board could take a lesson in how to conduct your business from Anchorage Marine

My 2 bobs worth in regard to insurance.

I am at present with QBE for a couple of reasons, no hassles over rigs/boat etc and they were the only company prepared to insure it whilst it was still in NZ and the only people prepared to cover it while it was being shipped.

I am intending on changing to Nautilus, mainly because they give back a percentage to my home club ... win win, biggest hassle I have found is "if you have running backstays fitted, premiums go up" significantly. Nautilus have no concerns over carbon mast, just the bloody runners.

Insurance is to me, just another necessary evil ..... but you cant afford not to have it.
