What can i say.
The 200km sail here definitely worth it. Lovely people amazing scenery. Flat calm water. No wakes from boats. Usually like 1 or 2 boats in the whole of jb sailing. Currently anchored at a beach all to ourselves. See dolphins every day. Beautiful refreshing cooler water . temp. Callala bay jetty almost accessible low tide but high tide no probs picking people up from there.
Im seriously considering permanent mooring here. Its another world.
GREEN PATCH, close to Hole In The Wall, easy to get good water by filling jerries etc

Glad you like JB. It really is an amazing place. A couple of months ago i had a whale and her calf swim past 50m from the mooring i was on near Green Patch.
As for a mooring location it is not so great. Callala Bay is exposed to East Coast lows and insurance is difficult to get. You will need very robust mooring apparatus and most likely an enviro type due to sea grass protection. Vincentia is an option as protected from SE and W; but NE fetch makes it unsuitable in the warmer months (i used to moor Warlock there). The creek at Husky is a good option but difficult to get due to waiting list; draft and tide restrictions apply.
Have you considered Greenwell Point; It is good for moorings and has a slipway. I have Warlock at Shoalhaven Heads as it is only a 30 min drive from Shell Cove where i live. You get out to see via Berry's Canal and the Crookhaven River, about an hours sail or motor. For me an hour on the river beats the added hour driving to JB. My yacht is closer and safer than it was at JB.
Am a big fan, have been for yonks, don't tell anyone! Crystal clear water because the opening is so wide…flushed out every tide…and no development…and mostly National Park surrounding. Only downside is lack of sheltered anchorages, no really sheltered bays anywhere.

What you say is so true, until a strong noreaster comes through and then you really notice the lack of anywhere to hide. 
A number of years back there was a proposal to create a sheltered marina at Callala Bay (on the north side) it was rejected on environmental grounds…thank-god, it would have been packed out by the moneyed-up stink-boat yahoo crowd, and the surrounding land values would have sky-rocketed. Nice to have a relaxed sailing venue without Chinese investors eyeing the place off, like most of Sydney and surrounds.
Yeah, its a magic spot. We anchored off the next beach south east from Cabbage Tree Point last night. A little busy but we saw what we thought were sea turtles this morning. It was about 30 degrees over there during the day, much hotter (40 degrees) when we got home to Callala Bay.
Was at cabbage tree bay today. Was gonna spend the night but had to leave when that thunderstorm came through and nearly blew us onto the beach. Got very close. Holed up behind green point. Stayed there about an hour and the northerly mixed with westerly came. Was dragging a bit. Just motored to callalla bay and on a mooring a local told me about. Cant believe how quick waves whipped up when the winds came.

Presume you mean Hare Bay. I have had a yacht with the keel just touching the bottom there in the 70's when it come off my mooring in a W gale. There are courtesy moorings over the Eastern side. Just make sure you don't anchor in a prohibitive area anywhere in the Bay. Make sure you are carrying the National parks chart when you are in the bay. Hefty fine if your caught with out it. They are free from tackle shops.
JB is a brilliant place to sail. If your cruising and stop over there just ensure you have a plan for wind changes.
Yeah it can be quite formidable, we anchored off Target Beach on christmas day and in the afternoon sailed back in the noreaster to Callala Bay. Well it was blowing pretty hard, with gusts up to 28 knots. In fact thats the second time we have been sailing out there when it gets much stronger than predicted. Might see if we can get another reef sown into our main.
i did get the map with where to not anchor etc. navionics shows it pretty well too. Not supposed to anchor behind green point but needed to and i think this is ok to do in an emergency.
Planning on sailing north back to sydney , leaving JB on the 3rd.
Hey graham i hope the owner of that fushing vessel wasnt too mad. He reckons he tried to wake us but im not sure he did.

Peaches are looking great plums nearly ready. Zucchinis are outta control plus more.

Im not that experienced at these longer trips this being the longest sail for me. All you guys helped me out heaps.
Dunno where youll be japie but you should come for a sail! Also let me know if you need a place to crash if youre in between stuff. Got 2 spare rooms.
