Hi all
For the last couple of race seasons I have been wearing knee pads as my main job on the boat is headsail/spinnaker trimmer and I normally kneel over the winch with my right knee sitting up against the cleat on the rear of the boat
I have a set of gill pads the offer good protection but after a period of time the straps that go aound the back of my leg above my knee cut in to my legs and rub my leg red raw even when worn over clothing
Just wondering if anyone uses other brands and what do you think of them
Regards Don
I use the Musto one, wide, soft neoprene all around, ($40 at Whitworths) the only catch, after a few races it starts to stink unbearably from the sweat. You have to soak it in a bit of white vinegar solution and it becomes serviceable again for a while. I got no idea why, this never happened to my diving gear. ![]()
Why not cut sections out of old wetsuit legs or arms. I keep all my old wetsuits, cut them up and use them for all sorts of stuff. The torso section makes a good dinghy rudder transport storage. The arms and legs ideal for transporting delicate stuff to the yacht. What about skate board stuff bought from the Salvos op shop?
Hi all
Thanks for the info so far
Looking at forums on the net these seem to get a good wrap but I am not sure if they will be available locally to try them on
