OK, so this is the silly question of the week.
I am planning on swimming off the boat on the weekend and knocking off the slime and weedy bits that have just started to accumulate on the hull. Is there a good way of doing this to minimise any loss of antifoul? At the moment I was going to use a stiff hand brush, but wondering if this will rub off too much antifoul and the net result is more growth.

If all you have is slime on the boat please dont use a stiff brush. Regardless of how you remove slime some of the antifoul will come off with it. The idea is to remove as little as possible and this will depend on whether it is a hard or soft ablative type of antifoul. Test it first with a simple wipe of the hand. If it comes off easily then just use a sponge. If not, next try a fine grade scotchbrite pad but try not to rub too hard. If you have to rub vigorously and then scrape, you're way past the slime stage and will need to scrub regularly before you eventualy will have to slip.
We do this a few times a season, just use a broad blade plaster board trowel , they are about 12" wide and do not take any antifoul off
OK thanks, the car sponge sounds good. We are in a creek with a fair bit of fresh water flowing out so hopefully that will help with keeping the growth down.
I use the softest indoor broom I can gte from Bunnings. My antifoul is ablative, so it workes by a little coming off each clean, but the brrom means that I can cover a larger area quicker (and therefore do it more often).
