There was a Seawind 24 recently for sale on one of the sites and the owner claims to have lived aboard for ten years, now them are real cojones.

I was overseas many years ago and met a pommy, his wife and a new baby, living on a 19ft boat on their way around the world!

Mad, stupid, or brave, it's got me

I never did hear what happened to them, but I imagine the 1st rough passage and she probably said something like; "me or the boat"

Included in live aboard heroes would have to be Larry and Lin Pardey who did many miles all over the world for many years in Seraffyn a 24.5' Lyle Hess designed boat.

Not to mention Ian and Jan Mitchell in a Top Hat 25, "Caprice". She became pregnant somewhere in the Indian Ocean, then travelled the rest of the world circumnavigation with a toddler. They recently released a book, called "Two in a Top Hat", which is well worth the read.

It wasn't that bad stayed on board through a few cyclones but got a topside rubbing from a motor boat in oone of the events, living aboard is a good character building exercise

Yep, sorry, wasn't intentionally being sexist with that one, just thinking of mum and new baby.......I know how my wife was when our kids were young, and still is, very keen on risk reduction.

No worries. I must admit I insisted on selling the trailer-sailer when pregnant with our first as I believed it was too small to have a baby aboard. Then it got worse...four years without any boat at all aaarrrgggghhhh. Then life started again....phew!
Happy sailing
