Its cheap real estate up there Sir J they dont have the weather we have either
St Kilda is around $6000 per anum
Hasting hard stand long term $3000 PA plus from memory

Down here is as much ans they can get
Big waiting list for a swing mooring and you can buy some one else's for price some $20,000 plus some $6000 Plus state Govenement 99 year lease I think

It's tiring paying top dollar for a swing mooring while watching countless mooring minders attracting seagulls and their stinky turds.

What does seagull taste like?

In Tassie it is $74 per year to register a private mooring regardless of the vessel length

The mooring needs to be lifted and inspected every 2 years and this normally cost me around $200

I'm in the same country zone and the rate is the same but I pay 50%. Pensioner perk. For those self funded retirees, get a card and take advantage of the perks.

My swing mooring on the border of Burraneer Bay and Dolans Bay, Port Hacking is $253.

Good Value for a million dollar waterfront.

Private mooring fees in Sydney: www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/index.html

I'm East of the Bridge and on paper 8.99 metres ( ) so $811 per annum.

Yearly inspection: depends how long it takes and if new bits required. Upwards from 250. When I moved from up the river to east of the bridge and took my mooring apparatus with me and needed new chain and rope it cost $670!

F^ck Sydney. But at least we do have lots of private mooring licences available.

Like Ramona I pay half price at $350 for a 10 metre boat in Pittwater.
I used to pay about $300 for an annual service, as required by the insurance company, but now get a licensed mooring agent who dives on it rather than lifts it and replaces simple stuff in the water. Usually $120-140.
If it needs to be lifted, I suspect only needed for the ground chain, he gets it lifted so back to the $250-300. That should be every 10 years or so at the most.

We should start doing some thing political as the elections are coming up
I some how feel the freel the green side of politics controls vic moorings so there few and far between
Victoria's idea is if you want a mooring you can't just out your name on a list and wait
You have to watch a vic gov web site and when there a new mooring site you apply
I think it works some how like that

To me it's a bit like the for shore around the bay .its left in its natural state but all it is is a place for feral animals to use to get from one suburb to another ha ha
Years ago we had swamps down here low lying areas of land that would not drain
These days they call them wet lands ha ha
Some where for the mosquito population to thrive
To be honest the only reason I'm here is where I work.
That's just my choice

Okay guys; Apples with apples. In NSW, from cheapest to most expensive...

Live aboard on anchor. Yes, it's still possible if you move every now and then. FREE

Private Swing mooring = boat attached to rope attached to chain attached to big chunk of heaviness. dinghy out to mooring from shore. no electricity, no showers, no cafe, no internet, no security, no nothin. you own the heavy thing and service it. you pay the licence / fee to have the heavy thing and boat in a place in the public space. up to $1500 p.a. but usually a few hundred per annum.

Leased swing mooring = as above but a marina owns it, you have no wait time, don't own the big heavy thing, and get a lift out to your boat and back in business hours. I think they're a couple to a few hunderd per month depending on location.

Berth = either marina owned or privately owned / leased in a marina, walk on, walk off and all the luxuries. Dunno: $8000+?

Private berth = you own a block of land with a jetty out the back. $1 to $35 million depending on location, location, location.

This is the pricing for marina berths at the Kermandie Marina here at Port Huon

www.kermandie.com.au/servicesandrates.aspx/

How do they compare with mainland rates

Or if you want a home on the water with a private jetty, slip and boat house this one www.homelands.com.au/120192/#!prettyPhoto I believe sold for less than $600,000 around 2 years ago
