Remember Laura Dekker the 13 year old Dutch girl who wanted to sail around the world? Well she did when she was 15/16 and I suppose some of you followed her blog. A few days ago her movie "Maidenhead " was shown on British TV apparently. I was going to buy the DVD off eBay but they all seemed to be zone 1 DVD's. I found the full movie on Youtube, it looks like it may be a pirated copy copied off a TV. It is an hour long and certainly worth a look. There is something for everyone, cooking tips, mast climbing[the hard way], windvanes, heavy weather sailing, passage planning. For the most part she acts like a 15 year old girl but she shows heaps of common sense. Only stopped in Darwin in Australia.
Had a rain day today, & was finally able to watch this. what a great movie! Certainly not the production quality of even some youtube channels, so could be a pirated version??
Even early in the movie she reminded me of Moitessier, & later on she does mention him. I wonder what she is doing now.
Thanks for posting this Ramona
This is a new form of censorship where the brightness is turned down except the bright area in the centre of the picture, the BBC have started doing this on their newer programs, a bit annoying but I suppose we can live with it.
I really tried to like her; I just couldn't.
Same here. It was an interesting watch, but I didn't warm to her either.
