Electrical tape is good!
And a hip flask of scotch!
What if the croc skulls the flask of scotch before he bites you south ace
Wrap his nose with the tape.
I had a doctor crew who insisted on equipping the boat with what he thought I needed. I still haven't got to the bottom of it.
My view, address sea sickness, burns, cuts, broken bones, eye flush. If you are worried and sail with old farts carry an oxy viva and defibrillator.
I used the Cat 3 racing requirements as the guide for my first aid kit, which is:

Well scruzin got it about right, only forgot one thing...
3 or 4 large wound dressing pads. You'll need these when there is LOTS of blood!
You will only need to apply them, some medical Doctor will be the one to remove!
This is from practical experience. ![]()
Beroccas & panadol!
If you don't have them try tomato juice with a healthy dosing of Tabasco Sauce and a raw egg.![]()

Good suggestion. Having just read "Black Wave" in which the skipper manages to sever his leg, some large dressings pad would be very useful!
Anti-histamine? Also don't understand paracetamol OR ibuprofen, esp. when they can be taken in conjunction.
Nurse gave me the hint the other day of super glue for makeshift stitches. Otherwise a stitching kit onboard would have it's value, I've seen nasty head gashes from a boom wound. Also a wooden spoon to bite into when stitching yourself up.
A bottle of dettol goes a long way.
I've got this tape in the med kit, it's a bit like masking tape but medical grade, it's awesome for dressing wounds.
Also tampons can be used to block large wounds.
I'd recommend lots of dressings, because currently I'm finding dressing my foot, you start to use up a lot of dressings as they get wet and dirty.
actually one of super glue first uses was as a field dressing for wounds (Vietnam war) ....I have used it for many deep cuts.
I have also sprayed butane liquid from a gas cylinder to deaden the area before a few emergency stiches..
One useful addition for tropical areas is novocaine injections....for stonefish stings (in Australia though, you will have to get a friendly doctor to give you a script)
