I know some of you guys are using it on Ipad, but I have an Android tablet and have heard it is not very good on it.
Any one has tried it on Android? Just curious before buying for nothing!
I have just loaded it onto a Samsung Note and works fine. In comparison to the app on the iphone, I was initially disappointed but it works fine. The big disappointment was not being able to simply tap on the open the info for the lighthouses, beacons etc. Instead the tap opens a cross hairs and you have to move the screen t get the object onto the cross hairs then open the info. Not quite so one handed usable.
Did not buy a tablet yet.............. do not want an Ipad have an I phone and I hate Itune............... find it not user friendly!
Unfortunately the Navionics Android app does not currently work on Android tablets, such as the Nexus 7. Works fine on Android phones, so Navionics is being slack about porting it.
The AUSTRALIA version is poor on my android tablet (won't even do landscape orientation) but the AUSTRALASIA version is great and works very well.
PM me if you need more detailed info...
Thanks Tommo, I downlaoded the Australasia version onto the Samsung Note and it is superior to the Aust/NZ version. For some rason it is referred to as the Australia South Africa version on the google play store but when downloaded is Australasia. I can now also get the app to work in landscape. Still need to align features in the cross hairs to open the information. Does anyone know which terrain overlay works best with the maps?
One advantage of iPads and iTunes is that they don't have viruses. Android apps are not vetted as well by Google for security issues. I guess that doesn't matter with a known name like Navionics though.
Also, app developers tend to put higher quality and better content into iOS apps, since they are protected from piracy. With Android, anyone can move the app to a different computer or post it on a web site to share with the world. You can't do that with an iOS app.
