So I have been trying to get sponsorship from GoPro (cameras) they so far have only agreed to a half sponsorship. They seem very interested in the performance of sailing videos I create for YouTube.
So here is where you guys come in, It would mean so much for me if you could go onto my channel and have a look at my sailing videos and hit the like button if you liked them :) Also feel free to Subscribe!

There are lots of sailors out there using GoPros that could use sponsorship. I may suggest they ask too.
What makes your application outstanding?
Suggest you do some units in Marketing to understand how to put together a really compelling case.... At the end of the day what's in it for them?

Hey, Liked all your video posts. Good luck with it! I gladly spent a few minutes of my time to like them. It didn't cost me anything.. Where I'm from in our sailing community, people dont have to put together compelling marketing cases together for a simple request for help.

If an org gave product away to everyone that put a you tube vid up they wouldn't make a lot of profit.....this is why they want value for their spend. Don't expect people to give up their hard earned profits these days for something that returns them no value.
Perhaps business in Tas operates differently, but I doubt it.
If you want the free prod give them something in return.......it's a simple principle, and fair. Sponsorship is never a simple request for help, and nor should it be. As I said there are lots of other sailors clambering for help out there.....just make your case more compelling if you want to succeed.
Just to let you know im very unexperienced in sponsorship and didn't realize writing that would cause that reaction.

. The request to check out the video was a simple one to this on-line sailing community. The more views and ratings the video gets, the more chance of sponsorship.
Simple stuff really. Don't know about WA, but down here in Tas if someone asks for help..... just saying.

My point is that you should never expect help, or sponsorship, simply on the back of your YouTube hits.....except if your Kim Kardasian.
Offer the sponsor something in the way of exposure via performance, print media, etc. There are so many Junior crews that are high performing in just 29ers alone and can really use a free Go Pro".....so no, Sailor333 is not cutting my turf as I don't need free stuff, cant use it in my class or really need to at this point, but would gladly see it go to someone who truly deserves it......
If my advice was not heeded re sponsorship and proposals then that's fine....it came free.
Oh, and Redwitch, Tasmania does not have a mortgage on free help and advice, you will find it's a general theme across the country at most yacht clubs, including the great State of WA.
At no point was I suggesting we get personal, ""WA125er"". But may I suggest some units in Humility? Then your case may have come across a little less obnoxious.
Moving on, it is great to see this topic really getting so many views.. Keeping the commentary alive has helped move the view count on some of the videos from a handful to several thousand!!

What do you know about me? Or WA or my "turf"? You then follow up with a comment about my lack of humility.......that is getting really personal im afraid.
The forum is here for people to post their throughts and help/opinions....no matter if you feel they are obnoxious or not....for my part I am very comfortable that I always offer advice in the intent that people may get something from it, if they don't then I am ok with it too.....you can check my other posts if you feel I am incorrect.
If Sailor333 gets her full Go Pro Sponsorship then the Marketing has indeed been compelling for her. But I still stand by my opinions on sponsorship and how it should be approached for benefits on both sides.
