I have just fitted a brand new 1715 Furuno Radar. I am concerned about the amount of noise the Radome/Scanner is making. Previously I have had larger 24" Furuno radomes mast mounted on other boats and cannot recall even being able to hear it when the scanner when it is rotating. This current Radome is mast mounted and it is clearly audible at the Nav Station when the scan rate changes as you select different ranges. The noise level increases with the increase in scan rate for the shorter ranges.
Is there anybody on the Forum who has one of these units fitted and can comment first hand on the noise levels they have experienced.

Thanks

Maybe it is the mounting on the mast. You might be getting resonance, and this would be transmitted through the mast to the hull, which then acts as a sound amplifier. Another possibility is some loose mounting screws in the unit itself. Rumble- your link leads to a "Forbidden" screen.
