Don't laugh, serious question............
Has anyone experience with the Bunnings crystal clear pvc tablecloth film as a sail window. The description as below would indicate suitability. I would simply glue it on around a 12-15mm perimeter with Soudal T-Rex clear which have successfully used on sail mods - albeit smaller sails.
What thickness would be suggested - Farr 727 quarter tonner genoas. I was thinking the 0.5mm or 0.75mm.

The only experience i have using it in a marine environment is when i made a cover for my ST1000 autohelm from same or similar material of the lighter grade
so far the cover is approx 5 years old stitched and spent almost all my sailing time sitting horizontal in the elements
my observation is that it does lose its pliability and hardens quite a bit , minimal scuffing and so far no apparent uv disintegration
Many thanks for response, sounds good. With the average use of the boat ~12 times per year and 5 foresails am sure it will be fine. Bainbridge and other websites indicate 0.5mm so the plan is all locked in. rgds Rob
Well l am not laughing, l am actually shocked.
I am thinking of the not too distant future, when - after Whitworths and all the other marine supply stores and Australian sail makers went to the wall - Bunnings becomes our major and probably only supplier of dubious quality goods.
Beside all this, would any of you buy a yacht which had sails or part of the sails made by Bunnings?
My answer to your question - by the way - is, the material you are planning to use on your sails is CRAP.
I had it installed on my balcony as a wind brake in May 2012 and it is disintegrating rapidly.
Honestly, you got to be kidding!
