Missus says she thinks sailcloth (dacron) is painted when it's manufactured
If so, have any of you repainted a sail, and what paint did you use ??.

Not painted any sails myself but did accidentally sprayed a dacron sailcover with blue VHT Vinyl Dye.
If I was going to have a go at painting sails a UV resistant vinyl dye would likely be my first choice.

The missus is nearly correct Sam. Some Dacron cloths were resin impregnated (not paint, but nearly) to provide dimensional stability. The better the quality of the cloth the less resin impregnating you would need as the sail has a higher modulus and more likely to hold a better shape for longer.
