There is a proposal for in new marina in all places..... Ballina! see forum:
stand up paddle/General/Ballina Missinghams threat
Can this be linked to the sailing forum
you mean like this?

Or did you have something else in mind?
I think the sailing forum is going along quite well thank you, with out a moderator or any sub categories. Be nice to keep it that way.
Sailors are the most civilized people in the world and that is why they are sailors. They sail to get away from civilization because civilization is not civil.
If you can understand that, I would like to know you.

I know exactly what you are saying Cisco

The Bass Point Marina south of Wollongong has now been in the planning and red tape stages for about 25 years and as yet still waiting for the first boat to make use of it. With the amount of sway the Greenies have combined with the ditherings of the Gummint I think this Ballina development will be a dead duck.

Have you been out to Terrara lately where the new marina is supposed to be? Lots of earth works going on, not sure if its the marina or another project in the vicinity. It was supposed to be finished last August but fresh new studies always seem to be required by various bodies.

Downstream from the punt? I haven't been out there in quite some time so havn't a clue what's going on, might have a ride out over the weekend and have a squizz. I was under the impression that Kanga gave up on the idea due to costs and council hoop jumping. so whoever has it now must have very deep pockets.

Kanga has been out of it for awhile. Apparently it's owned by a South African company and run by a young woman. My mate Danny, the ferry boat driver sees her occasionally on site. It seems to be a bit further South than what I was expecting and hopefully its not some other project. Perfect place for a marina although its more like a hard standing and dry storage than a marina. The emphasis is on power boats I believe. The council is strongly in favour, it's the State government bodies making problems.
Last Thursday Foamballer on the SUP Forum reported that:
"OK, so the proposal went to the Council, who rejected it 5 to 4. I'm surprised it got that much support, most of the people around town thought it was a joke. The idea is to look at existing sites up river - which makes a lot more sense. But not to fear... Misso's might get buggered up yet... the latest letter to the editor is calling for a wave break wall in the middle of the river to stop any swell getting in at all."
