Hi there.
I am sailing south to Brisbane and then on to Lake Macquarrie next week.
My wife will be flying from Townsville to Brisbane on Wednesday and I want to pick here up from a jettie/pontoon in the Moreton Bay or lower Brisbane River area.
As this is not an area I often go to can somebody suggest a place where I can pick up my wife from that is reasonably close to public transport and where a vessel that draws five foot can pick up a passenger.
Thanks in advance,
Rick.
You could pop onto the William gun jetty in the marina? The boys will prob point out a closer one but near the mouth?
I'm not a sailor as such but cabbage tree creek is close to Shorncliffe train station - 500m? could walk even with bag/s.
There's a yacht club there plus trawlers so must be deep enough access..

In Manly Boat Harbour , the public jetty is new , big and easy to approach. Train station is approx 600 metres up the hill.
There are other jettys but most are tidal and therefore shallow. One other very good , big and sheltered public jetty is in Raby Bay Harbour. Usually unused but right next to the train station. Raby Bay channel should not be a problem for you at all tides. In fact I use this one myself on occasions with 5 ft draft and 33 ft beam. By the way there is a fuel berth at both Raby and Manly , both sheltered and usually easy to approach.
If you are going to spend a few days in Brisbane get a berth at East Coast Marina in Manly, the Manly train station lis about 20min walk from the Marina.
there's no public jetty in Manly that you can tie up to for a few hours to wait for your wife
Redcliffe jetty is protected and free. you could stay there for a few hours.
Bribie jetty at Bongaree, Bribie island is easy to pull up at for a few hours.
both are north of Brisbane in Morton bay.
Redcliffe would be train and then bus
bribie would be train to Caboolture and then bus from Caboolture station to Bribie. bus would drop her 30 meters from the jetty.
