I've anchored too many times!

Does anybody know who does galvanizing of anchor chain in the Sydney/New Castle area?

I'm heading towards Sydney from the NSW Mid North Coast on the 27/1/16 and would like to drop it off on the way

Mmmmmm,

With 100 views I take it that nobody gets their anchor chain re-galvanized but buys a new one????

Could try Camden Haven Steel fabricators, think they send stuff to galvanizers every couple of weeks.
Don't know what my anchor chain is, as it doesn't look like its hot-dipped galvanised, yet it isn't really rusty??

What about just slopping anti foul on it ?

This is probably not going to help you NSW, but I have heard in my travels that the galvanizers in Bundaberg are supposed to be the cheapest around for regalvanizing chain and a lot of cruising boats have their chains redone while they are there. I think they even pick up and deliver to your boat. Some of the local boys may be able to confirm this. A good thing to keep in mind when you are returning from the reef and you want to refresh your chain.

Not sure where to get it regalvanised, but I have read a good poor man's sandblasting technique to prep it clean, is to take it for a tow along a beach from a 4wd.

Thanks Blue Moon, I'll look into that.

What a pity I didn't know that Jode5, spent a week at Bundaberg, weather bound on my way south last year.
Could have had it done then.

I got mine done in Brisbane a couple of years ago. 90m 10mm chain, 25 and 15kg anchors and a couple of short chain lengths was nearly $1000. Saves lots of rust stains on the foredeck. I now swich chain end for end every anti foul to even out wear.

just out of curiosity, how much does 90m of 10mm chain weigh?
