Has new sails and brand new David Lambourne mast etc, I know the guy who is selling and so far there has been no interest, just curious if it is overpriced?
It is a very basic boat with some good features. No foredeck photos but it is probably an earlier boat with the round hatch which are more susceptible to osmosis, reason for the hull strip maybe.
Check the condition of the hull/deck join bolts. If corroded it is a bad sign. Check for cracking in the deck in the weak spots.
Engine looks old but if ok it doesn't matter. Is the standing rigging also new, the running rigging looks unused and old.
If these areas are ok it is a reasonable price in my view.
You can get them cheaper, but there is always a reason.
I think it's priced about right. Nice boat, I can remember when it was for sale a few years ago for a lot of money, I remember the upholstery. Nicely fitted out with good teak trim but the trim near the main hatch needs work. This may put off prospective buyers who baulk at the idea of getting their hands dirty. The tiller steering and engine mounted centrally and flasher sounder appeal to me but may not appeal to those looking for a first boat. It's weird I know but people starting out boating now tend to start with wheel steering and lots a flashing digital stuff and completely ignore a boat with inherently fine sailing qualities.
I would tell your mate to hold on. There will be a buyer come along soon enough that appreciates quality.

Yes Ash, it also evokes feelings that the boat is 'looked after', always a good feeling.
