Hi everyone, after quite a bit of reading I have come to the conclusion that rebedding your chainplates whilst leaving the mast in position can be ok, providing you do one side at a time and use halyards to secure the mast. Question is.... Has anyone any experience with this and if yes was it easily achievable with good results? Also the big question... Butyl tape or 3M 4200 sealant or similar? Everyone has their opinions thanks!

I did my 9.5m mast u-bolts to chain plates with the mast up, Was very easy actually.

Butyl vs polyurethanes etc. I prefer fix tech.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. Left my run a bit late this week to order from tapes online. Shout out to anyone in perth who may have some leftover butyl tape I could purchase? Long shot but worth a try.

An alternative is to try ordering it from (this would take a while though):

Note the word staging. before the tapesonline. You may have been hacked. Try typing the correct address into your browser.

I get this error when I click on the url, or copy paste the url into Chromium Version 53.0.2785.89 (64-bit). Thanks for the help, I guess it is possible that I could have been hacked, but I am running Gentoo hardened linux, Chromium and everything on the machine is compiled from the GPG signed source code using a hardened toolchain.

That's great. They seem to have fixed the problem with their website, I don't get that error any more.

Just in case anyone is interested in the Bed-It tape from Compass Marine, this is the order button for orders shipping to NZ or Australia.

www.pbase.com:443/mainecruising/bedit_tape_new_zealand

Where the most cost effective option is 4 rolls, the maximum that will fit in the box. Unfortunately though the Bed-It butyl tape is more expensive than local options due to the high price of postage from the USA.

Hi jgb1787,
have a look for my post 'Butyl Tape - Australian Source' 27/06/16 for butyl tape available in Australia.
I use it extensively with excellent results
regards,
