I have just purchased a Red Jacket and love it to bits, its my first yacht. I am chasing a front hatch as it doesnt have one. Would anyone know where I may be able to buy one or how best to make one myself.
Thanks
great choice of boat, i've got a redwitch so they're very similar boats.
I'm assuming that the redwitch and red jacket have similar fore hatches and when we lost ours in the drink off freo we went to Greg's Marine in O'Conner. They've made us a fore hatch out of perspex, a fibreglass main hatch and a rudder and they're pretty top blokes.http://www.aussieweb.com.au/business/gregs+marine+service/1460009/
Please note, I do not work for or advertise for Greg's Marine.
Where have you got your Red Jacket Kendallfox?
Yes i stated out witha red jacket 25years a go . I can remeber the hatch cover it was a domed perspexs. My was cracked and i could not find one any were i was going to go to a glass shop and see if they could get one shape. the other alteritive is to install a hatch and frame whitch involve cutting the raised lip out. A lot of work. The boat is a great piece of gear and you will have great fun with it.
I had a Red Jacket for many years.
I'm 99% sure that bcjplastics.com.au/ was the place for a new perspex hatch. I bought one once but it was many years ago.
Good luck.
Did you get a new hatch? I've also recently bought a red jacket and it came with a cracked hatch cover. A friend is going to have a go moulding a replacement out of fiberglass but I'm considering replacing the original with a flat perspex hatch instead of the dome.
