Hi folks, I am looking for a trailer sailer for cruising and racing. Could you give me some advice on how easy a Red Witch is to launch and sail solo on those occasions when I am on my own?
Agree the red witch would be hard to retrieve. Totally disagree about trailer sailers being a two man affair. I can solo rig launch and retrieve my Seaway 25. I suggest you have a read through trailersailerplace.com.au

I have a Red Witch I sail out of Mandurah. I could do it single handed but it would be a pain to launch and retrieve single handed. I use a long rope to put in in and out. You are going to get wet. Take teenagers as crew...they can get wet and don't care.
Easily sailed single handed once she is in. Very small below. Cheap as chips sailing.

I had a Red Jacket and found that it was not hard to put it back on the trailer, just had to push the trailer in deep enough. Had to wade in up to my waist, as long as it is done during summer months , I took the trailer off the tow bar & let it free fall into the water . No need for a extra long draw bar. I have much the same idea as you have abt wanting to cruise in a small boat, Have been off shore dozens of times & would be comfortable in a small boat. Just pick the right weather conditions . I know where one is. Last I heard it's just sitting in a paddock unloved! I might buy it just to see you off.

If it isn't a wreck, you certainly won't regret it. I had one for a few years and they are a brilliant yacht.
