Rigger/Painter Nth of Sydney

Around my way (Newcastle / Lake Macquarie) these are the options that spring to mind.


My top recommendation for a rigger in the area would be Scott at East Coast Marine & Sails ecmarinesail.com.au/ . He did a great job when I replaced the standing rigging on my yacht. Nice guy to deal with, does exactly what he says he is going to do and in the time frame that he says he will do it in.

On the Lake:

Marmong Point Marina.
Full haul out facilities
Shipwright business
Big yard and yes you can do your own work

Marks Point Marina:
I think they will let you do your own work but the faciilties are more limited and space is tight. Not sure they could manage a lift out of your mast.

Lake Macquarie Yacht Club:
They have a mast crane on the marina wharf but I am not sure about how available they make it to non members. You could contact them and ask.
The Yacht Club has a slip not far from the club which you can access - details and prices on the yacht club web site.

There is also a shipwright business that operates from the Yacht Club slip site, www.jrmarineservices.com.au/ Not sure if he does rigging

I have used both the shipwright at Marmong Point and the yacht club slip and my recommendation for service and reliability would the the one at Marmong Point.

In Newcastle:
there is the boat yard next to the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club the Mid Coast Boat Yard & Marine www.midcoastboatyard.com.au/ It used to be a Noaks yad but changed hands a little while ago. I have never used them.
