Starts next Wednesday, and in my shamless pursuit of self promotion, yes we are doing it! About 80 starters, some 78 of which are bigger than us, and we are 1 of 2 entrants from WA.

We had our baby out of the water today for final touch-up & final maintence:

Live tracking of all the fleet here:

Hopefully you'll see us in Hobart, slightly famous for the right reasons!!

Good on ya Poods.

It was hard to imagine that you shipped her over east for just one race series.

Who gets the honour of being "kitchen bitch or galley wench" and cleaning up your XXXX Gold expulsions into the galley sink??

We'll be keeping an eye on you and fellow "This Way uppers".

Just remember, wedding rings are not permitted to be worn in Hobart.

I'll be the one to ask - why are wedding rings are not permitted to be worn in Hobart?

Eeerrhh... for safety reasons I'm sure!

That's it, to avoid "de-glovings"

good luck Poodes.

Remember, land stays on the RHS going there.

Will look out for the boat on Boxing day coverage (one of the best parts of Aussie Christmas)

Thx Guys. I've been on a beer celibacy diet since our last race, not to be broken until we hit hobart. The crew nearly fell off their perch when they learnt

TWU is on an outside track and that could prove to be a good strategy as it has done for some in the past.

Poods, are thee and thy crew over your alcohol withdrawal symptoms yet??

For TWU sailing at 9 knots would be fairly gratifying but when the race leader is doing 20 knots plus you look forward to a good handicap result.

So the lads are running 9th or 10th last and might cross the line in the next 24 to 36 hours.

I an not sure their handicap is any good to them now.

Poodles on "This way up" doing fine.

jonrowe.co.uk/SYD-HOB/

Just click on the name and it centres. There are some mighty pissed off people around the world this year denied access to the TV coverage from 7 and a crappy official tracker.

Good tracker that one.

Love and War (was or still is owned by Peter Kurts as was "Once More Dear Friends" has 4 miles up on This Way Up which is in a group so close together that they are probably passing drinks between boats.

Peter passed away in 2005 and since that time the boat has been campaigned by his son Simon

What is rule 40.7 of the sailing instructions that incurred them a 45 minute time penalty?

Rudder bearing failed causing flooding and HF to not work for a while. The guys used VHF and sat phone to complete skeds (told race control that they had no HF as soon as they could) but were still penalized.

Apparently the penalty could of been alot harsher but to me the guys did the right thing and penalizing them for a breakage seems stupid.

The yacht racing mafia are appalling. I have a top of the line Plastimo raft I bought 2nd hand. It meets or exceeds Cat 1 standards and if bought a few months before I bought it it would be accepted for Cat 1. YA won't accept it because I acquired it a few months after their cut off date. Yachts are racing with less quality rafts but I can't use mine.
These guys might be high priced lawyers and business people but they are bloody stupid with their bureaucracy.
